About Me
I was born and raised in Taiwan. Before I started in pottery in 2023, I had been a full-time professional classical violinist.
All the skills I have acquired through decades of training as a violinist, allowed me to transition into being a potter more smoothly. The attention to detail, high focus, discipline, etc. Clay is a medium that is incredibly responsive and expressive. It allows me to really find my voice as an artist. Then I realized I am the most at ease when I lean into my roots, my Asian heritage. Fruits/foods are such a big part in Asian culture, and I LOVE making pieces that resonate with people who have similar backgrounds and appreciation for our culture.
I am very aware of the fact that our ancestors prepped the stage for us Asian-Americans, so that we can succeed and be proud of who we are today. I want to keep doing that through my work, and hopefully inspire others along the way.
Thank you for being here and I invite you to stay for the ride! :)
All my best,
Chia Li(佳悧)
